Anonymous Patients

Where labs receive human or animal samples anonymously, or with Client Patient ID only, the Patient creation form is shortened to the essential only:

Known Patients

Where more personal identification is kept on record, disable the Anonymous check box

The system assigns a unique sequential Patient ID (PID) to new Patient records. The format of the ID is configurable, P14-0001+ are used for 2014 patients in the examples referenced here

Beyond the PID and Client's (CPID), Patients can also be identified by additional means such as Social Security Numbers etc.

Select the patient's date of birth in a date picker

The system will automatically update the patient's age and keep it up to date. The user can also specify whether the DOB was estimated if the true date is not available

Patient Country and State

For epidemiological purposes, the patient's country and state is prominently captured

Patient addresses

 Full details may be kept for recurring patients

NB. Patient privacy

     In the interest of confidentiality of patient information:

        * Lab clerks don't see analysis results

        *  Analysts don't see any patient details

Patient Test results publication

Some country's allow publication of lab results of certain types directly to patients

Set the publication preferences for the Patient on the Publication preferences tab

The Patient may inherit the publication settings from its referring institution, which makes it possible to disable this feature if required by law in some of the territories served by the lab
