New release soon, Bika LIMS 4
Bika Lab Systems is proud to announce, with working title Ingwe Bika LIMS 4, our first release built on Senaite as the 'new Bika' core. This is a little circular, originally the project transitioned from Bika LIMS 3 to Senaite. The code has since been superbly built out under strict Senaite quality control and release management. After the migration, Bika Lab Systems continued to code and submitting Senaite improvements from Cape Town, and commissioned by generous clients, developed a number of add-ons that fell outside Senaite's own scope. These were all publicly released as Senaite add-ons, including some very Bika-specific ones under the Bika moniker, initially a colour scheme and set of COA templates. They have grown to a substantial set of enhancements, enough to justify a Bika release - with the Senaite core, including our contributions, at its heart. Bika LIMS has been packaged like this since the migration to Senaite but never officially released There are no differences in their architecture and primary features, they share the same modern robust UI and API, the same modularity and usability, and the same Python 3 and Plone 5 migration path that come with Senaite’s evolution. |
Finding a name for the release was not difficult, in the tradition of Inkosi 'Chief' Bika LIMS 2 and Gaob 'King' Bika LIMS 3 we give you Ingwe Bika LIMS 4 - the Leopard in isiXhosa. More real soon now. |
