We’re excited to announce the release of Ingwe 4.2, the latest version of Bika’s Open Source LIMS. This update brings significant new capabilities, including an integrated Invoicing module, a NELAP-ready Batch COA for water testing labs, and an enhanced “Dream” setup data set
Invoices
The Invoices module has been upgraded and is now packaged in Ingwe - it allows labs to invoice per Batch, using Analysis Panels and Services as invoice lines. The invoice is emailed to the client. Sponsorship for the small step to interfacing Quickbooks eagerly awaited:)
New COA
The release also includes a new Batch COA for water-testing laboratories operating under the NELAC and ELAP standards. Using the template, results are listed with their Methods and Verifiers and related QC results. The COA includes a Case Narrative section, COC reports where available are attached to the COA email
No doubt does it need improvement - it has not been used in practice, its would-be sponsor absconded - please try it out and let us know of shortcomings. We can easily include a Methods section and attach images using existing code
Dream Setup Data Set
After every upgrade we test the 'Load Setup Data' scripts and over time developed very good test data, a 'Dream' set, that imports a diverse and variant configuration, to test all system nooks and crannies. Ingwe 4.2 includes this XLSX. It loads a lightweight Environmental Management LIMS configuration
This release marks a significant step forward for modern Bika. With enhanced functionality, a more intuitive and comprehensive user manual, and stronger alignment to real laboratory needs, Ingwe 4.2 continues to evolve Bika into a powerful, accessible, and future-ready open-source LIMS platform. We look forward to seeing laboratories put these new capabilities to work
