Ingwe Bika LIMS 4.2.1: Client Form Fix and Pinned Add-on Sources
Ingwe Bika LIMS 4.2.1 is now available as a Docker image. This maintenance release fixes an installation issue that could make parts of the Client form inaccessible. It pins all 20 add-on source repositories to specific commits, giving future image builds a consistent source baseline
Cape Town. 27 October 2026
Users reported that, after installing versions 4.0 or 4.2, selecting Add Client displayed only Bank details and Preferences. The Default and Address tabs were unavailable, preventing users from completing the form
We traced it to the order in which add-on installation profiles were applied. The bika.reports add-on declared a direct dependency on the legacy ATContentTypes installation profile
in Ingwe 4.2.1, bika.reports installation profile now depends on senaite.core:default. The fix requires no JavaScript compilation and no change to the Docker Compose profile order
All 20 Git source repositories are also pinned to explicit commit hashes in the release buildout. This prevents future builds from silently picking up newer code from moving branches. These source pins provide a controlled baseline
The dependency was tested in a fresh installation, followed by testing of the new Docker image. Checks passed for Clients and Reports

Repairing an affected existing site
After backing up the database and blob storage:
Navigate to Admin → Site Setup → Manage Interface → portal_quickinstaller.
Select senaite.core and click Reinstall.
Return to Clients → Add Client and confirm that all tabs are available.
Reinstalling core reapplies the expected template configuration. This is the repair for the affected site. Version 4.2.1 corrects the dependency responsible for the installation problem
