Bika LIMS 4.1 Released. Time Series and Enhanced Client Communication
Closing off 2025, the Bika LIMS 4.1 release brings incremental improvements to Bika's modern LIMS features, alongside two established modules that extend communication and analytical capabilities
This release builds on the strengths of the Ingwe 4.x series, delivering further refinements across core LIMS functionality while introducing two additional, proven modules that have already been successfully deployed
The first of these is automatic “Received” email notifications, enabling laboratories to acknowledge sample receipt promptly and consistently. This feature improves communication with customers, reduces manual follow-ups, and supports more transparent sample tracking from the moment material enters the laboratory. Texts in the email are hyperlinked to corresponding Samples and Batches to make it easier for lab clients to track their analysis requests
Bika LIMS 4.1 continues the project’s focus on modern, maintainable, and standards-aligned architecture, ensuring reliability while remaining flexible enough to adapt to diverse laboratory workflows
For ease of deployment, Bika LIMS 4.1 is available as a Docker image, making installation and upgrades straightforward and repeatable across testing environments
With this release, Bika LIMS rounds off 2025 with a stronger feature set, improved customer communication tools, and expanded analytical capabilities—reinforcing its position as a practical, open-source LIMS for contemporary laboratories
