Sampling

Global settings

On the Sampling tab in the Setup

At the time of writing the Enable the Results Report Printing workflow did not work. When it does, it allows the user to set an additional Printed status to Published Samples for those who had COAs printed too

Enable Sampling Scheduling does not work either. It adds the fields for the scheduled Sampler and date, but does not let the user proceed without a Date Sampled

Date sampled required

Requiring the Date Sampled as compulsory on the Sample create form, can be disabled. The system will still enforce the date before Samples can be received, with error message The sample cannot be received

Enable Sampling

When the Sampling step is added to the workflow, Samples start their lives in To be Sampled state, before they become Due. Samples then have to capture Date Sampled and Sampler before they can be transitioned

Auto-receive

In labs that don't use Sampling workflow and the Samples are always registered when they arrive at reception, consider enabling Auto-receive on the Sampling tab in the Setup. Sample will then start their life cycles in Received state, eliminating the need to Receive them

Preservation does not have any effect on the workflow - one can enable the Date Preserved, Preservation and Preserver fields on the Sample Cteate and view pages regardless

Default turnaround time for analyses

This is the default maximum time allowed for performing analyses. It is only used for analyses where the analysis service does not specify a turnaround time. Only laboratory workdays are considered

Default sample retention period

The number of days before a sample expires and cannot be analysed any more. This setting can be overwritten per individual sample type in the sample types setup

Work day Calendar

At this stage Bika uses full working days only when calculating due dates and raising late Analysis alerts. Labs on shorter turnarounds will need working hours to be used. Please contact us for this customisations

Reference Sample Expiry Warning
