Bika Cannabis
Open source LIMS for Cannabis testing and research laboratories
Same Same but different
Bika Cannabis uses Bika / Senaite at its core and then expands it with cannabis functions and attributes via add-on products. The standard Bika workflow, standard manual and videos are still valid, see the Workflow and Batching chapters
Your implementation will have the Bika Cannabis add-on installed, and also:
- Bika UI - the classic Bika icon set in colour as opposed to default b&w, and easier configuration of banner, logo and favicon
- Senaite Instruments - collection of instrument interfaces that includes the ones used in cannabis testing
- Senaite Queue - for asynchronous back ground processing of the big cannabis analysis requests and worksheets
- Senaite Storage - sample storage facilities and functions
The rest of the cannabis differentiation is achieved in configuration, setting the LIMS up with cannabis Analysis Services, Profiles (Panels), Methods and instruments. See the Bika Cannabis demonstration installation configuration
Cannabis Attributes
These are the new Sample attributes
- Tracking ID
- Cultivation Batch
- Strain
- Lot number
- Metrc Manifest ID
- Metrc Sample ID - Bika's Package ID

Licensing
Both Clients and Lab get license number fields. License Types are set up in the LIMS configuration and delected from, the Issuing authority is captured as free text

Integrating Metrc
Bika exchanges data with Metrc through the use of the Track and Trace browser addon
Bulk Sample Import
The same attributes are also used in the cannabis version the Bulk Sample Import. Use this Cannabis template
State Limits
To reflect unwanted pesticide, solvent residue components and regulatory limits, Bika' standard Analysis/Product Specification architecture is used with results beyond the configured specification highlighted in views and results certificates, COAs
COAs
The Cannabis COAs are based on the standard ISO 17025 ready Bika single and multi Sample templates, with the added attributes and small regulatory requirements to e.g. indicate Pass / Fail in literal text
