Global Analysis Services Setup

Some of these settings are only available with the bika.extras installed

Navigate to the Analyses tab on in the Setup

Check the Category boxes to have the Analysis Services Categorised in the Setup and on Sample views. Recommended

Some laboratories, e.g. biobanks, receive Sampes without knowing what they will eventually be analysed for when they come out of storage. For these cases, leave Require sample analyses checkbox empty

If you want to capture the results capture date manually for say delayed results that don't come in at the time of saving it in the LIMS - which is the default datetime stamp for results captured, check the the corresponding box

Sometimes Analysis Specification valid ranges can only be determined at runtime because they depend on other results. To allow dynamic Specifications check Enable Sample Specifications

Exponential format threshold can be overwritten on individual Analysis Services, normally set to 7

With Immediate results entry selected, users will be taken to a page where results can immediately be captured. For this to work, Auto-receive samples has to be activated on the Sampling tab

You can also enable remarks fields per Analysis

Enabling Automatic verification of samples will see 'cascading' states on Samples enabled - when all the Analyses on a Sample are Verified, the state of the Sample itself changes for To be Verified to Verified

ISO 17025 dictates that a user other than the one that captured the result, must verify it. Sometimes this is not possible, say a hospital lab at midnight on skeleton staff. Non accredited labs may choose to do away with it altogether. Select Allow self-verification of results

In other cases, a lab might require 2 or more reviews of Verified results - set the number here

Set the default decimal mark and Scientific notation format

When the Rejection Workflow is selected, you'll be offered the opportunity to capture canned reasons for Rejection from which the user can select at runtime

Set the default number of Samples to open the Sample Create form with

If you are using the Number of samples function to create any number of identical Samples at once, set the maximum users may use - big number of creations will have an impact on performance. 10 Recommended

Enable Worksheet titles if you want - Bika will add an attribute to Worksheets that is populated with the Analysis Categories presented on the sheet, handy to refer to on the lab floor

As a rule, in the interest of DB integrity, edits to Analysis Service keywords are not allowed. Sometimes it is necessary, e.g. when a new Instrument is added. Enable it here, and off again after the fix was made:)
