There are no license, the code free sponsored through the foresight of clients, developers and user xommunity

So yes it is, but requires you to install, configure and learn the system. The model rewards sharp hardworking labs consuming less user or technical furtherance

Labs may source services from their preferred providers or use inhouse IT, online resources, voluntary assistance on user forums, and commercial services only for blockers

Can we host Bika LIMS on our own computers?

Sure, onsite or server farm of your choice

Do we have to pay?

No. See above. We do sustain the project by providing professional services to fee paying clients

What do I get?

Full ownership of the code, a free upgrade path, sans licence fees, vendor lock-in or fixed maintenance cycles. It can be used by unlimited users on unlimited servers

Where's the catch?

LIMS is complex, on the level of customer relations or financial managemet systems, and you'll likely require assistance with configuration and using the LIMS, interfacing Instruments. 

We recommend taking out professional support for prioritised issues. Yet again the iron triangle is at play. Slow and Cheap can be Good

Where do I download Bika to install it?

Bika runs best on robust Linux. in a VM if necessary, and is easy to install using Docker to start with

High volume Production servers must be performance optimised and load balanced

LIMS is not to be compared with PC applications, Bika's are industry standard server implementations
